Wal Pho Kao Ton is otherwise known as Wat Mai Daeng. It served as a stronghold for the people of Bang Rachan in their persistent fighting against-Burmese invaders in 1765 A.D., two years before the second fall of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya.

Phra Achan Thammachot, a monk who also knew mantras and came to stay here from Suphan Buri, was their spiritual leader throughout the 5-monk fighting until the fall of the stronghold known for 200 years as Khai Bang Rachan. there still remains as old 4-porched Wiharn or Vihara with a stream flowing at the back.
