Situated 5 km from the town and accessible via bicycle or motorbike, Wat Tham Mangkon Thong (The Cave Temple of the Golden Dragon) has long been an attraction because of the floating nun who meditated while floating on her back in a pool of water. According to the local belief that in ancient time a nun dwell in this place.
This practice continues generation after generation after the death of a nun another nun takes the charge of this practice. The splendid temple is located in a cave which is only accessible via steps flanked by dragon carvings on both sides.
The temple comprises an unexceptional network of low limestone caves, punctuated at intervals with Buddha statues.
Follow the string of light bulbs through the front cave and you’ll find a view of the valley and mountains beyond. There is also a small museum displaying a variety of ancient objects found in the area located nearby.
