Statue of King Naresuan

Province: Phetchaburi
Region: Western Thailand

Hard core cultural tourists will find the Statue of King Naresuan a must to visit. Honored as one of the great kings of Thailand who saved the country against the Burmese, King Naresuan reigned from 1590 to 1605, during the Ayutthaya period or the Siamese Middle Age.

Few people, even Thais themselves, have realized that great King used Cha Am as a meeting place before going to war against Burma in 1593. His statue is erected in a small park overlooking the sea, at the end of northern Cha Am.
