Given its good location and nice atmosphere, Cha Am is the place where King Rama VI had his summer palace of Phra Ratchaniwet Maruekhathayawan built during his reign. The palace is located on Bang Kra beach between Cha am and Hua Hin.

It was constructed in 1923 under King Rama VI’s command to be his summer palace. Mrigadayavan Palace consists of 16 golden teak buildings which are devided into 3 groups. All are linked together throughout the palace by verandas on stilts. Well ventilated with niches for water around the pillars to prevent ants from entering the building, this Palace of Love and Hope, is open daily to the public from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. except on Wednesday.

Dress properly the same way you do when visiting a temple and there should not be any problems entering to the palace. Taking photos is not allowed anywhere in the premise and visitors must take off their shoes while they are inside.
