Wat Suwannawas Temple

It is situated in the west off the city island at Tambol Pratuchal, Amphoe Pranakorn Si Ayutthaya, Pranakom SI Ayutthaya Province. There is no evidence off its historical background or period off construction.

In the past, this temple was situated at the areas called Yan Pa Takua and Yan Pa Maprao (the market selling products made of lead ore, fishing accessories and coconuts). This area was also situated the Royal Elephant House. Therefore, it is presumed that this temple was built by a nobility official who serviced to mahout bureau and Intended to use this temple as his family temple.

There is a bell shaped chedl as the Main Chedi of the temple and a round shaped chedi on an octagonal base which Is the common formation in Early Ayutthaya Period.

Considering from the patterns off these chedis found, it is presumed that the temple was built since at least in Middle Ayutthaya Period. There is evidence of renovations in Late Ayutthaya Period and Early Rattanakosln Period, in the reign of King Rama IV.
