The monument is the project instigated under Her Majesty Queen Sirikit to serve as a remembrance of King Naresuan the Great. It was constructed in Thung Phu Khao Thong with an area of more than 543 rai. It is only three kilometers away from the city to the north along the Ayutthaya-Pa Mok- Ang Thong Road.

The monument was built in honor of King Naresuan the Great, for later generations to recall his bravery, to preserve the historic site, and to become a new tourist attraction for the province.
