Somdet Chao Phraya Canal

Thai: แขวง สมเด็จเจ้าพระยา
District: Khlong San

Branching off Khlong Bang Sai Kai waterway, the canal flows to join the Chao Phraya river at Pak Khlong San, for a total distance of 3 kilometres, called another name of Khlong Khanon Maenam after Dan Khanon customs house which situated on the canal’s mouth.

The canal was later named Somdet Chaophraya Canal due to a plot of land in this area belonged to Somdet Chao Phraya Borommaha Phichaiyat (that Bunnak) nearby there used to be Ban Somdet Market which was the central market of modern products from abroad and the royal warehouse at that tme.
